APEX Pharmacy, 365 Days of Servitude
Happy Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. DAY
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a masterful servant leader. After his death countless people battled to honor him with a holiday to ensure he would be remembered in perpetuity. Often, on this Holiday people are led to serve, to give to the community as Dr. King thought we all should. This excerpt from his sermon, The Drum Major Instinct, encapsulates why everyone can serve:
“……. It means that everybody can be great,
Because everybody can serve.
You don’t have to have a college degree to serve.
You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve.
You don’t’ have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve.
You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve.
You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve…..”
Community Servant
On this special day we want to tell you about a great community servant that has helped improve access to the COVID-19 Vaccine. Dr. Mary Desta is the Pharmacist and owner of APEX Pharmacy located at 12597 E. Mississippi Avenue, Unit 300, Aurora, Colorado 80012. When she was deciding where to establish her pharmacy, she focused more on the people she could help rather than profit. She wanted to “impact more lives, not just fill prescriptions.”
The pharmacy has been open for over a year. Everyone that visits the pharmacy is glad that she decided to serve in this way. The pharmacy is fully operational, yet Mary has made sure that the pharmacy is a handy spot for the community. It is a trusted source to get the COVID-19 vaccine and she has partnered with community groups to be the hub for the community to get the vaccine. Although she is quite busy, she has extended beyond the walls of her pharmacy at times to volunteer and administer COVID-19 vaccines at places like churches or community centers.
Dream Manifesting
Dr. Desta’s dream of APEX as a committee resource center, is taking shape as more people hear about her place. When you walk in the pharmacy, by intent, the ambience is calming and welcoming. Mary and staff always greet you with a smile as if you are the only and best person to enter the space. She shares that APEX is small enough to know your name, but big enough to have the technology to support your pharmacy needs. She is dedicated to empowering patients to know about their medications, chronic diseases, and general preventive practices. She even has a section in the pharmacy for pet needs.
She finds her work very fulfilling and is so happy that she can make an impact on people, especially her people and other forgotten populations. On this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, stop by and let Dr. Desta know how much you appreciate about her.
Just for the health of it!
